Netflix’s “Wu Assassins” Trailer Combines a Snoop Dogg x Higher Brothers Collab with Lots of Kung Fu

0

So last month when we told you about Snoop Dogg and Higher Brothers grabbing some Chinese snacks together, it seems like they were maybe working on a track for new Netflix series Wu Assassins. The trailer for that show just dropped and it features the unmistakable flows of the Dogg and the Bros, along with some kind of ridiculous face-shifting mystical martial arts action and a San Francisco Chinatown setting:

Hmm. Not sure about this as a show.

Netflix seem pretty keen to check off some key interest areas with this one — the official blurb pitches it as “Kung Fu meets sci-fi meets Asian street food”, which sounds pretty amazing on paper. “He’s on a mission to save Chinatown, even if it means killing his own father,” is maybe more of a clue of where this is headed however.

Indonesian actor Iko Uwais is the lead, and that Higher Brothers x Snoop collab isn’t the only interesting soundtrack choice — a previous teaser clip for the show used Blackpink’s “Boombayah”.

Guess we’ll reserve judgement until we’re able to see some actual episodes (look for it from August 8). Would definitely like to hear that full Higher Brothers and Snoop song though — here’s hoping that drops soon.

Update: The track, called “Friends & Foes“, just got a release:

In the meantime, here are some more China-related shows to check out on Netflix:
