Netflix has released a trailer for a new “anime feature film” from Shanghai-based Haoliners Animation League and the Japanese studio behind hit romantic fantasy drama Your Name, CoMix Wave Films. Entitled Flavors of Youth, the feature will premiere next week at Anime Expo in Los Angeles.According to a press release from Netflix:Told in three chapters in three cities, Flavors of Youth explores the simple joys of life through sensual memories and how the beating heart of love cannot be defeated by the flow of time. Not poetic enough for you? Perhaps try this:Memories in a bowl of steaming noodles, a fading beauty finding her way and a bittersweet first love — all in these stories of city life in China. The main cast appears wholly Japanese as does the language in the trailer, but the Shanghai studio’s Li Haoling and Yi Xiaoxing are listed as directors and it’s being very much billed as a “Chinese-Japanese collaboration”, which is great to see. Here’s the trailer, featuring some lovely scenes of Shanghai:You might also like:Light Chaser Animation Captures Modern Chongqing and an Ancient Utopia in its Third Film“We are Netflix Plus”: An Interview with iQIYI VP Leon ChenAward-Winning Director Zhang Yimou On Board for New “Chinese Netflix” – Awkward for “Netflix of China”Photo of the Day: The Wind Guardians
