Watch: A Day in Kunming with Yeti Out and S!LK

0

For the latest in our china.wav live event series, we linked up Puzzy Stack and Nomercy of S!LK and Tom Yeti of Yeti Out for a day touring the mushroom markets and old streets of Kunming, the capital city of southwestern Yunnan province. The trio were there for the ninth stop on their ten stop tour of China, which took in cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, Xiamen and Shenzhen.

We talked with Tom about his delight at getting to tour more of China in the midst of travel lockdowns, while Nomercy and Puzzy told us about their favorite stops on the tour. We also joined their pop up at RAD STOR3, a concept shop comprising a collective of independent designer brands, before joining them at their show at DADA Kunming.

Music collective-turned-apparel imprint Yeti Out bridges east and west with its series of pop-up raves and record releases. The euphoria of late nights and early mornings are transformed into graphic-heavy apparel, artwork, and audio tapes akin to the crew’s resident sets on NTS radio, while its label Silk Road Sounds is a reflection of youth movements that shape creative culture in cities that never sleep.

Founded in 2016, S!LK is an electronic music, fashion and art brand rooted in Beijing, aimed at promoting the sound of the future and manufacturing pioneering music in a live show setting.

china.wav spotlights the best of China’s rising music and artistic talent, amplifying their voices to the rest of the world.
